Mrs Funnybones is just like you and a lot like me. This is the part of Twinkle Khanna that the readers will come to know and love. We have always known her as an actress, the daughter of the most famous Bollywood actors-Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia and the wife of a famous actor Akshay Kumar.

However, Mrs Funnybones reveals the other side of Twinkle Khanna. It reveals the person that she is through her daily life experiences as a mother, as a wife, as a daughter and daughter in-law and as a woman and responsible citizen of the society that she lives in. The book also takes us through some of the most pertinent issues faced by any societies like youth and suicide.

She has a different way of looking at things and life. I like the way she describes the people in her life like her husband is referred to as ‘the man of the house’ ,her son as ‘the prodigal son’, her daughter as ‘the little beast’, her mother and mother in-law as the ‘eccentric mothers.’ She has a great sense of humour and depicts everything through a humor lenses. She firmly believes that ‘nothing in life is sacred except laughter.’. Thus, goes the title of the book review.

“My goals to amuse myself often ended up amusing others.” And this how she has taken into the path of writing her most popular Columns in ‘The Times of India’ and ‘DNA After Hrs’ which ultimately came in the shape and form of Mrs Funnybones. In expressing her gratitude to the ‘man of the house’ for being there in the process of writing this book, this is how she puts it, “You are the diesel in my Innova, the helium in my balloon, and the ice cube in my apple martini.”

This is one of the best, wittiest, the funniest and amusing book I have ever laid my hands and eyes on. Given the limited time I took over 3 evenings to complete the book. However, this is one book that can be read at a go with the time ranging anywhere between 2 to 3 hours.

A must read. Recommended for everyone and especially for those who are in the process of reviving their reading habits, Mrs Funnybones will light the bulb in your system.
